Meeting the Herd

Surfing Goat Soaps is the home of the imaginary world of Caprenity, but it is also the place to find some wonderful soap and other products.  We wanted to introduce you all to our all natural bar soaps, but they are a pretty tough interview.  So instead, we’d like to introduce them to you through the herd of Caprenity goats.

Every year, new goats were born on Caprenity Farm.  Queen Agra was very thankful that she didn’t have to come up with the names for them all. That was the farmer’s job.  But she needed to get know them all, so she could protect them properly.  Though she was the liaison from the amgic world to the farmer, she also decided to include the farm animals too. The goats, horse, donkey and chickens didn’t have the magic to talk to the people, but they could communicate with the Fairy Queen.

After every new group of goat kids was born, the Mama Doe would introduce her offspring to the magical world. After Grousing Day was a great time to touch base with the babies, so on this day Queen Agra flittered around the pasture. She had to be careful that she wasn’t hit by the flying kid hooves, as the baby goats discovered their legs and tried to fly.  Thankfully, she thought, they couldn’t fly. It would be much more treacherous to live on the farm if they did.  Just visiting the herd in the pasture and barn was tricky enough.

She ventured up to the doe named “Jane Banks,” and admired her triplets.  “They are beautiful Jane.  Can you introduce me?”   The doe nodded her head, swallowed her cud and called all the kids to her side.  The biggest and boldest was a tan buckling with a black strip down his back.  “This is Oatmeal,” she said.  “He’s my biggest kid this year. He was first born, and you can see he’s much larger than his siblings. He lived alone in one of my interior horns.”    The little buckling kicked up his heels, twisted into the air and said “Glad to meet you!” as he bounded away.

“Nice to meet you too!,” called the Queen.  “He doesn’t stay still very long does he?”

“No, I said he was the boldest, and that means sometimes that he’s the rudest,” said the doe with a smirk on her face.  Next came a little red kid, colored like a copper penny.

“This is Honey”  said Jane.  She is my biggest doeling.  She’s very sweet, and I hope she gets to stay here.  But if she goes to another farm I’m sure she’ll represent us well.”  The little red doe smiled a goat smile, which was hard for humans to see, and ducked behind her mother’s udder.

And then a tiny little kid came out from behind the udder. She was speckled with lots of colors, grey, black, red, cream all flecked together giving her a unique coloration.  “This is Lavewnder,” said Jane.  “She’s my shyest, but I love how colorful she is.  It won’t make any difference as to how she produces and lives, but it will make her very welcome at another farm. Some people can’t see past the flash. I can, which is why I love them all.”

“So this year’s kids are Lavender Oatmeal and Honey?” stated the fairy.  “Sounds like a great breakfast!  They are beautiful, Jane.  Thank you very much for letting me meet them.”  Jane nodded, burped up some fresh cud to munch on, and she took the kids off to a climbing rock so they could pretend that they could fly when them jumped off.

There would be other kids to meet, so she has to keep up, but it was so much fun to see how each one had its own personality.  She knew that most would not stay at the farm, but it was so much fun watching them grow up while they are at Caprenity Farm.  “
