Taking a shower, or a bath, is a great way to relax, and come out of the water feeling clean. But if you turn on the tv, radio, or hear a podcast you may immediately feel sick again. It's hard to believe that this is our reality, and I personally don't want to live in it all the time. So, I was so glad when the idea of "Knights of the Round Bale," came to me. A chance to create a place where good things happen, where inhabitants cooperate, and the mission is to keep their world safe, is an opportunity I can't turn away. While the stars of the stories are usually the molded soaps, like real life the everyday workers are the ones who make it possible. In Caprenity that's the residents, but at Surfing Goat Soaps, it's our conventional bar soaps. These simple bars, full of goat milk goodness, and essential oils, are a "breath of fresh air," for your skin. They bring the natural value of our sustainable farm, our healthy animals, and the cold process soapmaking we do, bring our customers the best of the world for their skin. Others make soap with beautiful colors, and strong fragrances, and that's fine for them. But for me simple is best. I love getting requests for special batches, like our olive oil or coconut free soaps. People breathe a sigh of relief when they ask "Do you have anything that's not got any scent?" and we say yes. We point them to our blue-wrapped soaps, and they often grab a few to take home. We call our Unscented Collection the Saga Collection. Saga is a cream colored doeling that was born here at the farm this spring. Our goal is to make life more enjoyable, and give people some peace of mind in their choices for personal care. "Lavender Oatmeal Honey" is among our biggest seller, partly because it is familiar to people. But I love it when people discover our more unusual blends, like "Moonwind". A combination of lemongrass and eucalyptus, this is a simple scent that automatically takes people to an exotic place. Our "Off the Clock," soap is new to us. I formulated it for those people who need to really scrub their hands but has some ingredients that make healing easier. Comfrey and shea butter are available to skin, along with our goat milk and pumice and activated charcoal to scrub and draw toxins out to rinse away. It is scented for a neutral woodsy aroma, suitable for more than just "manly men." The Functional bars are often overlooked as the Fun soaps steal attention, but it is these simple soaps that do the labor of keeping people healthy and happy. The Fun Soaps are also great soap, but it take awhile before people discover their wealth beyond looks, if they ever do.
