Toad Stump - Entering the World of Caprenity

People may be wondering what a fantasy story has to do with goat milk soap? Let me tell you. There are a lot of people talking about their soap ingredients, and their scents, but the Internet doesn’t really allow you to smell things very well. We talk about ingredients, but we love to talk about the farm, and our story. That brings us to the Toad Stump on Caprenity Farm.

This map is a way we have to show you what it’s like at Hames & Axle Farm/Caprenity Farm. There really is a Toad Stump, and it is represented in our soaps as this little guy.

Now personally I love this frog soap, but I don’t think I’d really want to handle a warty toad soap, so his cousin the frog is standing in. In the middle of Magi’s pen, there used to be a tree.

For Magi it was a perfect butt scratching tree, but for us, it was a hazard to the barn. So we removed it, leaving the stump.‘For those who have never removed a tree stump before, it leaves a giant hole that grows over time as the roots decompose. That would be a hazard for Magi in the long run, so we cut high, and let her use it as a belly scratcher. However, a little Fowler’s Toad moved in. He was small, so he got within the rotting cracks in the stump, and he got stuck there. He had plenty of food, because flies love horses and toads love flies. He had plenty of water because the wood soaked up rainwater and left him surrounded by a moist environment, and he was shaded by the taller wood walls, so he stayed. And he grew, and he grew…..
I used to go sit out there with Magi and talk with her, and always said hi to Mr. Toad, until winter came and he found his way back to the dirt, and we haven’t seen him since. If he’s still around, he’s way too big to fit between the shards of the stump, and Magi has done a really good job of knocking the heck out of the stump anyway. Life goes on, and I’m sure he’s found a great place to live, still here at the farm.
In creating Caprenity Farm I wanted to give our visitors the sense of neighborhood and legacy that we share here, so we created Toad Stump. Creating the frog soap, and the Magi relief soap we bring you a little bit more of life here at Hames & Axle/Caprenity Farm.

If you have a story about a horse or a toad/frog, in your life, please share it with the rest of the Caprenity community. We’re young, so there are not many, but it is a way to bring us all together. If you are a fan of toads, frogs, horses, or goats, your purchase from Surfing Goat Soaps helps us protect our home, and you are reminded of the difference you make in your decision-making. Plus, you get a great soap (if you use it, even better!) So that’s the beginning of the World of Caprenity. I hope you’ll enjoy it as we unroll it. You can find more about us, and the World, at https://www.surfinggoatsoap.net. (We promise, using goat milk soap does not leave you smelling goaty, and using a frog/toad soap will not give you warts 😊 )
