From Stress to Caprenity

Need a breath of fresh air? A time away from the news?  We aim to help you with that.   I’m a farmer, an educator, new to this whole business thing.  I have spent my life in the service of our planet and my neighbors. It’s not in my nature to ask for money for anything. It’s also not in my nature to be overly concerned about physical appearance, fashion or other things that most women are taught to worry about. But now I’m in the business of making and selling soap, and have been struggling with how that fits into my life choices.  I finally figured it out. When I look at other soap makers, they are very beauty focused. That doesn’t make sense to me. It’s fine for someone else, but for me, buying something has to be more substantial, especially in these times. I’ve been thinking about how to set us apart from the thousands of others who make soap, and I think I’ve figured it out.

I have always been “a bit scattered.”  My mother used to get frustrated because I was always trying “something new,” rather than focus on any particular area of interest. But when I dive into something, I get submerged in it.  Whether you call it “unfocussed,” “gifted”“ADHD” or scatterbrained, I’m comfortable calling it “curious and creative.”

I do not consider myself an artist, because my creativity is not exhibited on a canvas or a museum. I consider myself an artisan, because I use crafts and creativity to explore the world, of imagination and of nature.  I’ve always been creative and while most soap makers focus on colors, patterns or scents, I have always been focused on “How does it make you feel? “ I want you to feel relaxed when you see or use, our products. There is so much stress today, (especially today, T-Day for war starting,) I want people to feel calm, happy or entertained, deflecting their minds and souls from the worries of the world. I’m good with that.

I have always felt that the best way to reach people with an idea is to approach it from a lot of different directions.  For me, that “Caprenity,” comes from the real life of the farm and the goats, to the traditions of herbalism and self-reliance, or the “vacation” to a world where Magic and “Real World,” co-exist with animals that have powers behind a veil.  The stories of Caprenity are inspired by our soaps, and they try to entertain and raise awareness of ways that people effect the world around us. So, if you want to find a way to “take a stress break,”  visit Caprenity at  Surfing Goat Soaps. We have practical soaps and fanciful ones. We have towels and other items that remember the pets, passions and planet that take us away from problems. You’ll also find activities such as games, puzzles, and a community of others who share your “vacation needs.”  For those who are very practical, like my parents were, you’ll find gift sets, bundles (these are coming soon,) but also traditional approaches to modern day issues.  I realize that you can get cheap soap at the grocery store, but you can’t get MY soap there. All Natural Goat Milk Soap is a gift from our farm to your skin and your comfort level. It lasts longer. It avoids the need for additional products. It is all natural, and we combine them with other ways to display your favorite things. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll get hooked. But we also want you to get hooked on the world that we create, on Hames & Axle Farm or in Caprenity Farm.  I am not a doctor, and don’t pretend to be one, but I am someone who feels strongly that mental health is part of physical health, and that healthy humans lead to a healthier world for everything that lives here.  Check us at www.surfinggoatsoap.net or at Surfing Goat Soaps on YouTube. I hope you’ll enjoy a little Caprenity in your day.
